Chile  - Expand New Bands for Fixed Satellite Service

On 2nd July 2026, the Subsecretaría deTelecomunicaciones de Chile (SUBTEL) released a notice regarding the expansion of frequency bands available for satellite services. The W band has been included in addition tothe existing Ku and Ka bands for Fixed Satellite Services (FSS). SUBTEL also intends to introduce the V band in the near future, with the relevant regulatory provisions yet to be published.

The measure applies generally to all satellite internet operators and service providers currently operating in Chile, including Starlink and HughesNet, as well as new companies planning to enter the local market in the future.
