Brazil - Seizure of Non-compliantly Commercialized Printers

On 3rd March 2026, the Reginal Offices of the National Telecommunications Agency of Brazil (ANATEL) in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina carried out a targeted enforcement operation against 3D printers equipped with wireless modules, seizing 898 units whose wireless modules had not obtained the required certification.

The printer importer claimed that the wireless function had been disabled by firmware; however, ANATEL maintained that the mere physical presence of a wireless module requires certification. In addition, tutorials available on e-commerce platforms demonstrate how users can reactivate the function via software, and therefore the importer’s conduct constituted non-compliant commercialization.
