Mexico - CRT Certificate ID still Use "IFT" Prefix

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) of Mexico recently clarified its requirements for type approval of telecommunications and broadcasting equipment, stating that the current "Guidelines for the Homologation of Products, Equipment, Devices, or Apparatus Intended for Telecommunications or Broadcasting ", published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on 29th December 2021, and amended on 2nd October 2024, remain valid and applicable.

The CRT pointed out that, according to Article 38 of the guidelines, the type approval certificate number must still use "IFT" as a prefix. This requirement is a clear compliance technical provision and will not be automatically adjusted due to changes in the name of the regulatory agency. Until the relevant guidelines are formally revised, companies should continue to use the "IFT" prefix when applying for and using type approval certificates.
