Nicaragua - Regulations for Approval of Telecommunication EquipmentOn 18th November 2025, the Nicaraguan Institute of Telecommunications and Postal Services (TELCOR) published Administrative Agreement No. 004-2025 - Regulations for Approval of Telecommunication Equipment. The new regulations came into effect immediately after its publication. Main points are as follows: 1. It specifies the telecommunications equipment exempted from certification: - Telecom equipment that is not part of or connected to a public telecom network, unless it has radio transmission; - Radio equipment operating on citizen band and amateur radio service frequencies; - ICM-type equipment that does not contain a wireless communication module; - Telecom equipment used by the government, military, and national police; - Telecom equipment in transit through the country; - Telecom equipment used temporarily by visitors on official missions, or aid and rescue detachments entering the country in the context of a national emergency; - Telecom equipment temporarily imported in limited quantities for demonstration purposes at industry exhibitions, events, or similar occasions; - Telecom Equipment belonging to the list of equipment exempt from the approval process published on the TELCOR website. 2. TELCOR will regularly update the list of regulated telecom equipment, and the list of exempted equipment. 3. All approved telecom products must be labeled with below information: Homologadopor TELCOR Certificado de Homologación No. XXXXXXXXXX 4. If changes made in the technical specification related to interoperability, EMC or safety, it will be considered as a new version and a new certificate will be required to ensure compliance. 5. For family or series products, each model must be approved separately. 6. TELCOR will maintain an updated registry of all approved Telecommunications Equipment through an online database. |
