Singapore - Addition/Change of Internal Components of Portable Socket Outlets

On 10th November 2025, the Singapore Competition & Consumer Commission (CCS) issued the circular CPSO-101125-23, reminding Registered Suppliers of portable socket outlets that the addition of internal components such as varistors following registration constitutes a technical modification and requires re-certification.

Registered Suppliers must ensure the internal components of their registered Controlled Goods (CGs) remain unmodified when supplied. Where modifications such as component changes or additions have been made to registered CGs, before such CGs can be supplied, RS must promptly approach relevant Conformity Assessment Bodies to determine whether re-certification is required, regardless of the perceived impact on safety or performance. All modifications must be updated in the technical file.
