India  - Official Launch of Cell Broadcast System (CBS)

On 2nd May 2026, the Department of Telecommunications of India (DoT) issued a notice officially launching a nationwide Cell Broadcast System (CBS) to enhance disaster warning and public safety capabilities. Thesystem, developed by the DoT, enables real-time, geo-targeted alerts to bedelivered to mobile users within specific areas through telecom networks.
