Indonesia - Updated SAR Regulation

Further to Alphabet Newsletter issued on 24th February 2026, the Ministry of Communication and Digital of Indonesia (KOMDIGI) officially signed the updated SAR regulation KEPMEN KOMDIGI NOMOR 197 TAHUN 2026on 22nd April 2026, which has already come into force to replace the original SAR regulation. Key updates are as following:

1.     Tablet computers that do not have a speaker for next-to-the-ear voice communication are exempted from the head SAR requirement. For the certification application, the applicant shall:

-       Submit a declaration letter stating that the device does not support next-to-ear voice calls.

-       Specify in the technical specifications that such functionality is not designed or supported.

2.     If the Indonesian Domestic Test Center (BBPPT) is not yet able to issue the SAR test report (LHU SAR), the certification application for mobile phones and tablet computers may be supported by a statement letter issued by BBPPT, indicating the expected issuance date of the SAR test report. The validity of this certification arrangement has been extended until 31stJuly 2027.
